If I had to use one word to sum up this book I'd choose "raw." It tormented me from start to finish. It was so real, and oddly personal.
This novel was one of the most honest things I've ever read. Hershon has an ability with words that I've never seen before. The accuracy of her words makes them razor sharp. The narrator didn't hold back a thing; she was candid about every second of her life. And while she reflected on her past a lot, it didn't ever seem unnecessary. Every word was necessary.
I wouldn't feel right reporting on the content of the book. It doesn't seem fair. The narrator seems so real, I would feel like I was telling a crowd intimate thoughts from her diary. She'll let you in if you ask.
Time to read from cover to cover: 2 days
General consensus: Emotionally wrenching in a way that will make you examine yourself.
