Book Report #153 The Casual Vacancy

The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling

The genius behind Harry Potter returns with an adult novel (not of the XXX variety). It's similar to her style in her hit series, in that she creates a microcosm, this time a town in England, and gets in the heads of all of its inhabitants. She's an impressive writer. There's no getting around it.

However, this tale was a bit too plodding and dreary to keep me engaged. I didn't really care about any of the characters' woes, and the plot wasn't engaging enough to inspire me to recount it.

I feel terribly about this. I do. But halfway through, I had to say enough was enough.

General consensus: Clearly, JK is the best. Maybe you'll like this book. Not for me.
