Book Report #167 - Equus

Equus by Peter Schaffer

This story was upsetting and made me extremely uncomfortable.

The writer was told that a young man had gouged out the eyes of six horses. With no explanation for such a horrific act, he wrote the play Equus to figure out why someone might do such a thing.

The play was a hit in London, and is famous for Harry Potter...sorry...Daniel Radcliffe's nude performance. Honestly, that's what got me curious enough to read it. But I'm dumbfounded as to how so many people celebrated this play without shame.

Seriously, I really want to know. It's a short read, and it seems all about shock value and vain attempts to be profound. What am I missing?

General consensus: WTF?
